Cani-e-gatti

Hello my name is Erin and I have been a pet owner for as long as I can remember. My days begin and end with my pets and in that regard, they help define the rhythm of my days.  The joy they bring to my family is significant and the care that we provide them is given with a deep appreciation for all that they give to us. It is only natural that we often ask the question, Is this safe for my pet?

My Four Legged Family:

Sofie is a 12 year old Boston Terrier who was my birthday gift in 2003 and she is the gift that keeps on giving. Her energy level amazes me still after all these years, she is a smart, full-of-fun gal.

Abby on the hand, is rather laid back and reserved and is the matriarch of the group. She was a rescue in 2005, so a good guess at her age is 14. She is a Beagle and true to her breed, she will always follow her nose.

Lastly, we have Zoey, my black and caramel colored kitty. She too is a rescue, we brought her home in 2012, and she now is about 5. She will disappear for hours at a time as she loves to camp out in the basement ceiling, but when it is time to relax on the couch with a movie in the evening, she is sure to snuggle up to me purring so loudly that I usually have to hit the volume at least twice.

Take Care,

Erin

  • Hi Erin, I’ve had a great time exploring your site; thanks for all the good info. I really enjoyed the cat video above—how fitting it is!! I have a Boston Terrier (Rudy) also, in addition to a paraplegic Jack Russell-mix (Stella) who’s a rescue. Rufus is my tuxedo cat. He’s a rescue from Texas I babysat for my son—-about 9 yrs. ago! lol Just to make sure I’m busy enough, I also babysit my neighbor’s dog (Carmen). The thoughts of her being by herself for hours breaks my heart!
I hope at some point you’ll do a post on caring for paraplegic animals. I’ll be glad to provide you with some information I’ve acquired from caring for Stella if you like. She is such a joy and has thrived as the family diva for about 8 yrs now. —Just let me know…

Thanks again for the awesome information

    • Hi Anita, thanks for visiting my site and glad that my comment issue was resolved. Yours is a full house, but isn’t it wonderful to share your life with animals? I would not have it any other way! Sadly, my cat Zoey passed away a few months back. So Friday I adopted Mya, a 7-year-old Tabby. She is adjusting well, considering she has not lived with dogs. My Sofie wonders why new friend Mya does not want to snuggle with her… A post on paraplegic animals sounds like a great idea, I will let you know!

      Take Care,
      Erin
